NCAA Violations Could Cost Calhoun – Literally

The Waterbury (CT) Republican-American reports there is a penalty clause in the contract extension signed by UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun last May. If he is found to be in violation of NCAA regulations, Calhoun “shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.”

Calhoun also faces a specific penalty — a $100,000 donation to the school’s general scholarship fund — if the program loses a scholarship due to penalties associated with the Academic Progress Rate.

Would give credit for the story, but there is no byline.
