Multiple sources are now reporting that Minnesota fired football coach Tim Brewster on Sunday morning, just one day after the Golden Gophers lost to Purdue to fall to 1-6. Offensive coordinator Jeff Horton will serve as interim head coach the remainder of the season. A press conference will be held at 1 p.m. CT.

Brewster went 15-30 at Minnesota in 3 1/2 seasons, including a 6-21 mark in the Big Ten. His buyout is $600,000.

“While I appreciate the passion and commitment that coach Brewster has shown, it is clear that a change in the leadership of Gopher football is necessary,” athletic director Maturi said in a statement.
