A story on the Oklahoman website writes that since an encouraging overtime loss in the opener to Utah, the Pitt Panthers have seemed to be a mediocre Big East team. The article, with no byline, says a loss today, “and Pitt seems headed for a lackluster finish in a league that should be ripe for any quality team. Wannstedt would return to disfavor with Panther fans.”

Matt Shetler of Bleacher Report writes, “This team has too much talent to be 2-3. Teams often take on the personality of their head coach and in this case the Panthers are a conservative, unprepared team that is afraid to make mistakes. Is Wannstedt on the hot seat? If not, I have to ask why not?”
