Ron Zook seems to have gotten the Fighting Illini (3-2 with a win last week at Penn State) back on track writes Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. ”It is a dramatic change,” Zook said. “But it’s something we expected.” Illinois’ three wins already matches their 2009 total.

Ralph Russo of the Associated Press writes that Tim Brewster is “way out in front in the first-to-be-fired pool” after losing five straight. Russo expects Minnesota to fire Brewster before the end of the season.
Russo also notes that after 11 player arrests and a 2-4 record, Georgia might need to run the table to save Mark Richt’s job.
Russo also puts Dan Hawkins on notice. He writes that a 3-1 start might prove to be a mirage after a 26-0 loss at Missouri last week.
Russo writes that Ron Zook seems to be safe for now, after coming into a critical year. Russo says that the Illini are a “good bet” for four more wins which should be enough for Zook to survive another year.
